Idiots Guide for JW Player Module

I'm not sure if I'm an idiot or not, but I've installed the free version of JW Player Mod.

Now, how do I get to use it?

All I want to do is run some local .flv and .swf files

If you want to stream just one file :

set the list "Select origin of the playlist/Single File" at "Single file"

Put in the field "Link of you RSS File/Single File" the adress of the file

www.yourwebsite.com/pathway_to_your_file/your_file.flv

If you want to stream more then one file :

Build a XML playlist according to those example :

* ASX feeds ( example )
* ATOM feeds with Media extensions ( example )
* RSS feeds with iTunes ( example ) extensions and Media extensions ( example ).
* Basic SMIL feeds ( example )
* XSPF feeds ( example )

set the list "Select origin of the playlist/Single File" at "RSS File"

Put in the field "Link of you RSS File/Single File" the adress of the xml file

www.yourwebsite.com/pathway_to_your_file/your_file..xml


This is basic settings we can talk after of other settings.

I am also an Idiot when it comes to JW Player but I would like to use it. I have managed to understand some of what you were saying to previous enquiry.

I have managed the single file but I want to create a playlist. I have local swf and flv files I wish to play. I am unsure what type of playlist I should create?

I don't understand the difference between these. I have edited basic xml files before in Dreamweaver but never created one myself. Could you give me a link to a sample xml file to suit my needs??

Basically they are similar, some of them have some additional code.

for beginning you can use this one attach, see how structure is and adapt for your needs (number of items, thumbnail, duration and so one)
