Installation Issues was created by dby
Hi,

I'm having difficulty installing the JW Player Module (free) through Joomla Extension Manager. Here is the error I get:

500 Internal Server Error
The server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable to complete your request.
Please contact the server administrator, webmaster@domain.com and inform them of the time the error occurred, and anything you might have done that may have caused the error.
More information about this error may be available in the server error log.
Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Dave

Did you have other installation issue with any other extension ?

Have you tried the install from Directory option ?

I've never had this kind of problem before. In fact I even reinstalled Joomla, thinking there was something else causing this error.

I'm sorry, I'm not sure what you mean by installation from Directory?
I tried unzipping the files and uploading them through FTP to the "Modules" directory.

1 - what the name of the package you try to install ?

i hope it's :

mod_playerjr_2.4.1.zip

and not :

mod_playerjr_2.4.1_UNZIP_FIRST.zip

if it's the good one -->

2 - what is the setting of those values in your php.ini :

upload_max_filesize
post_max_size

for the JW player Module (free) it's must be greater then 0.5MO.

3 - installation from install directory :

Manual Installation

First, unzip all of the files locally. Then transfer the files (using FTP) to a folder in the install directory (for example tmp). Then use the installer, but select "install from directory" indicating the correct folder name. This folder name should be an absolute path from the root of the filesystem.

docs.joomla.org/How_do_you_install_an_extension%3F

or

www.phil-taylor.com/2008/09/23/joomla-15...om-directory-method/

this will resolve your problem if the issue come from a upload size limitation or limit time limitation of your server.

if you have always the issue can you give me a joomla admin access by pm ?

Manual/From Directory installation solved the problem

For Your Information:
I tried to install mod_playerjr_2.4.1.zip NOT mod_playerjr_2.4.1_UNZIP_FIRST.zip - Did not work

Checked php.ini settings:
post_max_size 8M
upload_max_filesize 7M
