First off, excellent module. I'm currently exploring upgrading to the Pro Version, although I must say, you don't offer any plans that match the "single use for a small business that is doing it's design in-house" budget we normally adhere to...

As for the free module, some issues:

(The module is currently on a localhost site, so I can't direct you to see it)

All thumbnail related. I'm RSS linking a Youtube playlist into my module.

1) The thumbnails look good, as thumbnails, although I don't know how the module chooses these thumbnails. I told YouTube to choose different thumbnails than the ones your module chose. Just wondering why.

2) Critical flaw - the module declares these thumbnails to be the frozen shot of my video that will display on the module before there is any interaction with the videos. So your module decides it will stretch these thumbnails to fill the screen. This results in incredibly pixelated images being the static image on my home page (where this module would ideally someday be placed)

That may have resulted in a smaller screenshot than I intended... but anyways. Quite simply, I can't use any of the stretching commands without blurring the image. But without the stretching command, the module would look utterly out of place idle.

Got a fix? Or a better price?

Best regards,
Josh

Hello,

To attach a thumb be sure it match those requirement : 150 kb, 800px800px, png, jpg, gif.

so

1 - If you use a youtube playlist, The module don't choose anything it just pick up the one select by youtube.

2 - As explain the module just display what youtube set, but it's also possible that you have not set correctly the stretching flashvars, be sure to "uniform" or "none".

If it still pixelated it's maybe you have set a high default resolution for the player, or youtube set a default thumb of 480px × 360px

How do you set YouTube's variables?

Second, I've never explored publishing videos beyond YouTube - is there a better alternative for this purpose that will give me more control over the thumbnails?

Third - YouTube is not at fault, your module is doing something screwy -

This is your module, stretching the thumbnail "uniform"

This is the video as it appears on YouTube. The thumbnail I chose is not the one the module chose (although it is an option YouTube set).

Also, these thumbnails are larger here than what the module declares. And the frozen image is far better resolution.

1 - it's depend from the format of your playlist, could you provide a link of this playlist ?

2 - You can host your own content, or build an xml playlist with your own thumbs or use the hqdefault thumbs of youtube

www.longtailvideo.com/support/jw-player/...-up-an-mrss-playlist

and the hq thumbs (360*480)
Code:
http://i2.ytimg.com/vi/VIDEO_ID/hqdefault.jpg
or
Code:
http://i2.ytimg.com/vi/VIDEO_ID/0.jpg

or you can try our host solution :

www.joomlarulez.com/faq/51-faq-video-joo...eo-joomlarulez-.html

3 - The module take the default thumb provide in the xml file from youtube (90x120) (I guess youtube take the hq one):
Code:
http://i.ytimg.com/vi/VIDEO_ID/default.jpg
or
Code:
http://i.ytimg.com/vi/VIDEO_ID/2.jpg

is also accessible different (in 90x120)
Code:
http://i2.ytimg.com/vi/VIDEO_ID/1.jpg http://i2.ytimg.com/vi/VIDEO_ID/3.jpg

If you want a better resolution you have to follow the step 2
